Shouldn’t they call that version the Celica?

It’s more fun to get people riled up over German-engineered Japanese cars tbh

Celica Supra would be the 6 though

I thought of that too. Why not? They did that with the Celica/Supra back in the 80s.
The Supra had a little longer wheelbase for the 6, but it was basically
the same chassis.

Get out of here with your logic and such.

The first two generations of Supras were basically stretched Celicas with I6 engines and even shared a lot of body panels (except the nose, where the extra length was)

The BMW B48 ought to be a nice engine for that car, really - a little less weight up front for better balance, but still 250 HP.

With the 250 HP B48, it would still be quick (I doubt we will see the 195 HP version that the FP is railing about).

Oh I thought you were talking about that 194HP version

It’s the “we know you will swap in a 2JZ, so buy the 4 cylinder."

I’m just guessing that we won’t get that - seems like that would be a poor choice vs. just buying an 86. But what do I know?

Here’s a novel idea. Put the B48 2.0 turbo, in the 86! Boom!

Maybe *that’s* why Toyota used the BMW *turbo I6* - - they wanted to make sure that there was space for buyers to do the obligatory 2JZ-GTE swap.
I’m *really* looking forward to seeing that done.

Heres an idea, how about they put a turbo on the 86 and just forget about the 4 cylinder not a supra.

OK, Imma need to see a new Supra with a 2JZ-GTE, and also that 86 with the 250 HP B48.

That’s not a bad idea at all.
It does feel weird to me that there will be a 4 cylinder Supra. Supras should have I6 engines.
